Fans of lovesick boy scouts, furtive glances, water dripping of bathing bodies and teenagers falling in love with sailors are in for a treat as Bavo Defurne’s award-winning collection of gay short films 'Campfire' is released on DVD. Enormously successful at lesbian and gay film festivals throughout the world, these four beautiful short films examine gay love and loss and mark the emergence of one of Europe’s most exciting young filmmakers. The first of the short films Campfire, which won the Film Four Short Film Prize at the Lesbian Gay and Film Festival in London in 2000. It is full of lush, rolling countryside and involves a lovesick boy scout forced to choose between his girlfriend and his best friend. Sailor is a simple story about a teenager who falls in love with a sailor. Particularly Now, In Spring captures the moment when a seventeen-year-old boy is about to leave the safety of childhood behind him. This short film was Defurne’s first to achieve exposure at international film festivals. Saint explores the death of the martyr Saint Sebastian.
