Mariah Carey will headline Brighton Pride 2020 - and the collective gay screaming can be heard for miles.

The global musical superstar, 49 (possibly, depending on your source), is set to send crowds at Brighton's Preston Park into meltdown when she takes to the main stage of the UK's biggest Pride festival on Saturday 1 August - and tickets are already on sale.

Mariah's set will mark the five-time Grammy Award-winner's first ever performance at a Pride event, and will continue Brighton Pride festival's jaw-dropping run of headliners following appearances by Britney Spears in 2018 and Kylie Minogue last summer.

Carey will be joined on the bill by the newly-reformed Pussycat Dolls, who will headline Brighton Pride festival the following night, on Sunday 2 August (you can read more about that announcement here).

Paul Kemp, Director of Brighton & Hove Pride, said: "We are beyond thrilled that Mariah is joining our LGBTQ+ celebrations for our 30th anniversary.

"Mariah is a staunch LGBTQ+ ally and having her perform at Pride really helps us highlight our campaigning for LGBTQ+ equality to a global audience.

"Mariah is headlining the main stage but there are loads more artist announcements to come.

"Watch this space for more great LGBTQ+ performers and allies over the coming weeks."

Brighton's annual celebration of LGBTQ love and equality - for which Attitude is an official media partner - will this year follow the theme of 'Fabuloso', as Pride-goers are encouraged to celebrate who they are over the weekend of Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August.

Building on the success of last year’s Queer Town and BAME stages, for 2020 Brighton & Hove Pride are programming even more new and exciting areas for this year’s Pride Fabuloso two-day festival.

As well as the ever-popular Cabaret Stage, additional performance zones this year will include a Queer Theatre space, Spoken Word, The Catwalk stage featuring LGBTQ artists, and the opportunity for LBGTQ and QTIPOC performers to be an integral part of the UK’s biggest Pride festival.

Brighton Pride festival takes place over the weekend of 31 July-2 August 2020. For tickets click here.
